ISle of MAN

The distinctive Isle of Man coat of arms was first used on the Manx Sword of State in the early fourteenth century.

Clad in armour and bearing spurs, the three legs run in a clock-wise direction and witness and bear the islanders' independence and resilience the motto:

"whithersoever you throw it, it will stand".
